Review: Love Rosie (2014)
Genre: Romantic Comedy / Drama
Love, Rosie is a charming, heartfelt story about missed opportunities, enduring love, and the unpredictability of life. Directed by Christian Ditter and based on Cecelia Ahern’s novel Where Rainbows End, the film follows the decades-spanning relationship between Rosie (Lily Collins) and Alex (Sam Claflin), two childhood best friends who are clearly meant for each other—but never seem to get the timing right.

From high school crushes and drunken confessions to weddings, heartbreaks, and long-distance letters, Rosie and Alex’s journey is filled with twists, misunderstandings, and emotional near-misses. Despite their obvious connection, life keeps pulling them in different directions—sometimes because of chance, other times because of their own fears and hesitations.
Lily Collins delivers a wonderfully relatable performance, full of vulnerability, wit, and quiet strength. Sam Claflin brings warmth and sincerity to Alex, making their chemistry feel natural and deeply rooted in friendship. Their evolving dynamic captures the bittersweet tension of “what if” and the hope that maybe love really does find a way in the end.

While the film leans into classic rom-com tropes, it also reflects real-life complexities—unexpected pregnancies, personal setbacks, and the pain of watching someone you love build a life with someone else. And yet, at its core, Love, Rosie is about growing up and learning that sometimes the biggest love stories take years to unfold.
It’s a funny, tender, and emotionally rewarding film that reminds us it’s never too late to find happiness—even if it’s been in front of you all along.
