Three Men and a Baby (1987) – Movie Review
Directed by Leonard Nimoy (yes, Spock himself from Star Trek), Three Men and a Baby is one of the most iconic comedies of the 1980s—a warm, hilarious, and surprisingly tender tale that combines bachelor antics with unexpected fatherhood. Based on the 1985 French film Trois hommes et un couffin, this American adaptation became a massive box office hit, in large part due to its irresistible premise and charismatic trio of leading men: Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson.
The story revolves around three carefree New York roommates—architect Peter (Selleck), cartoonist Michael (Guttenberg), and actor Jack (Danson)—who suddenly find their lives turned upside down when a baby girl is left on their doorstep. To make matters worse, Jack is away on a film shoot, leaving Peter and Michael to navigate diapers, feedings, and sleepless nights without a clue. Tom Selleck’s transformation from suave playboy to doting father figure is especially endearing.

There’s also a subplot involving mistaken drug smuggling, which adds a dose of action and raises the stakes, but it’s the evolving emotional maturity of the three men that gives the movie its heart.
